Dear Rotary Family,

I’d like to share heartfelt news from Rotary International. Mário César Martins de Camargo, who was set to serve as Rotary International President for the 2025–26 year, has made the difficult decision to step down. Facing pressing personal and business obligations, he conveyed his decision with deep gratitude for the opportunity and trust the Rotary community had placed in him.

Mário’s journey with Rotary spans more than 45 years. His dedication, as a member since 1980, Youth Exchange Officer, District Governor, RI Director, and Rotary Foundation Trustee, has touched countless lives. Together with Denise, his partner in life and service, he has been a powerful force for good, inspiring members across Brazil and beyond with leadership rooted in passion and integrity.

Over the last 20 months, Mário and Denise devoted themselves to preparing for the presidency, embodying Rotary’s mission each step of the way. Their shared vision and tireless efforts have strengthened clubs and ignited enthusiasm for service worldwide. Though Mário will not assume the role of Rotary International President, he remains fully committed to advancing Rotary’s ideals and continuing his impactful work.

The Rotary International Board will convene soon to outline the process for selecting a new President-Elect for 2025–26. We trust this will be conducted transparently and guided by the principles of unity, service, and leadership that define Rotary.

Please join us in extending our deepest appreciation to Mário and Denise for their exemplary dedication. We also send our warmest wishes as they shift focus to attend to their personal and professional priorities.

While this change brings a moment of adjustment, it also reminds us of the strength and resilience of our Rotary family.
