Rotary in Thailand
Rotary’s journey in Thailand began on September 17, 1930, with the establishment of the Rotary Club of Bangkok, the nation’s first club. This inaugural meeting at Phya Thai Palace brought together 69 founding members from 15 nationalities, reflecting Rotary’s commitment to diversity and international collaboration. His Royal Highness Prince Purachatra Krom Phra Kampaeng Bejra served as the club’s Charter President.
As of November 2024, Thailand is home to 414 Rotary clubs, the majority conducting meetings in Thai. However, there are also clubs that operate in English, Chinese, Japanese, French, and German catering to the country’s diverse population.
These clubs are distributed across four Rotary districts:
- District 3330: Southern and western regions
- District 3340: Northeastern region
- District 3350: Central region, including Bangkok
- District 3360: Northern region

Each district comprises numerous clubs actively engaged in community service projects, focusing on areas such as education, health, and economic development.
For instance, District 3360 encompasses 69 Rotary clubs across 14 provinces, including Chiang Mai.
These clubs engage in various community service projects, focusing on areas such as clean drinking water, education, and health initiatives, embodying Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
