Regular Rotary Meeting Monday, 4th of August 2025

Join us Monday, 4th of August 2025, starting at 18.00 @ Royal Varuna Yacht Club

How is Thai nature actually doing these years? Dying, surviving, thriving or suffering?

The bees will know, and since he is a leading expert in the commercial honey-industry Pieter Hertogs will know from the bees.

Pieter Hertogs, a young Belgian, living in Bangkok and working broadly in Asia and Europe, will be our guest speaker at our meeting on Monday August 4th at Royal Varuna Yacht Club. Pieter will talk about the bees, and the business which is a significant global niche market.

Pieter Hertogs is managing director of Natural Food Network, a Global leader in Asian honey. The business has been in the market for over 20 years. The basic business is bulk shipments of raw Honey, supported by consumer packaged Honey. Most of the 15,000 Tons per year of honey related orders is produced in China, India, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

A rapidly developing area for the company is non-honey related Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).

There is a lot of interesting product development going on. Among them commercial production of mead, the old Viking drink that made the Vikings go berserk. For the people who dare, there will be an opportunity to taste the drink which is something between wine and beer, brewed on honey and water. The base fermentable sugar is honey, not grapes (as in wine) or grains (as in beer).
