The highlight of the weekend will be the End Polio Beach Run on Saturday\, 24 October\, bringing participants together for an energetic and highly visible demonstration of support for Rotary International’s worldwide campaign to eradicate polio. But the weekend will be about much more than running. Over three exciting days\, Pattaya Beach will come alive with live concerts\, vendor booths\, Rotary exhibitions\, activities and entertainment\, creating an event where the entire community can participate while supporting an important global cause. The event will also celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Rotary District 3340 in Thailand\, with exhibitions highlighting the district’s history\, achievements and the remarkable contribution Rotary clubs and Rotarians have made to communities throughout the region. A Global Mission With a Local HeartRotary launched its PolioPlus program in 1985 with an ambitious goal: to help rid the world of polio. Since then\, billions of children have been immunised and global polio cases have been reduced by more than 99%. Yet the work is not finished. Polio remains a threat wherever children are not fully protected\, particularly in areas affected by conflict and disruption. With no cure for the disease\, vaccination remains the most effective protection against the paralysis and potentially fatal consequences of polio. Every step taken\, every person attending and every contribution made helps keep attention focused on the final goal: a world completely free from polio.
